Walking to watersmeetLeave Fernleigh and turn left down Park Street.
At junction turn left down Lydiate Lane.

At bottom of hill turn right up Sinai Hill (Crown Inn on your left)
Take first left into Lynway (a narrow lane narrowing to pathway)

Keep going 'till you get to the main road.
Cross road into the car park of the Bridge Inn (opposite)

Take small bridge over the river
On the other side turn left.

Steep climb up to the top.
When at the top you can see the Fernleigh (give us a wave)
You'll find a bench here if you need a rest.

***Now follow signs for Watersmeet (and enjoy some of the best scenery in England.)

You will eventually come to a main road.

Cross over and take the steps down and over the bridge to Watersmeet National Trust.

There you can take refreshment. (Their homemade cakes are serious!)

Walk back along the river to Lynmouth.
Decision time!! Do you take the train up to Lynton or walk the zig zag path.

***Alternative route: follow signs to Hillsford Bridge. Then walk back on the right bank of the river to Watersmeet. Slightly further but not quite so steep.

It is advisable to let someone know, have an Ordinance Survey map and dress appropriately when you go walking.
